EAG (Empresarios Agrupados – GHESA) joins EffiTorch project to develop innovative thermal plasma energy storage technology

Funded by Horizon Europe, Effitorch aims to transform CO₂ and bio-waste into a sustainable energy source using microwave plasma technology.

  • Development of a Plasma Process – Converts CO₂ and bio-waste into syngas with high carbon and energy efficiency through electrodeless torches and rapid quenching.
  • Integration of continuous bio-waste processing (such as sewage sludge) with CO₂ to produce synthetic fuels and advance the circular economy.
  • Advanced Reactor Design – Features plasma confinement and ultrasonic atomization of bio-oil to maximize bio-waste conversion into syngas.
  • Optimization of the process to exceed 90% carbon efficiency and 60% energy efficiency, offering an alternative to electrolysis-based hydrogen production.
  • Scalability & Demonstration – Showcases EffiTorch’s feasibility for industrial applications in renewable energy storage and waste valorization.
  • Dissemination of its innovations to drive adoption in industry and energy policy.
