  • Scope of services:
    • EA has developed the basic engineering and licensing documentation for the decommissioning of several facilities located in the CIEMAT research center in Madrid, including:
      • A research pool reactor
      • Metallurgical hot cells used for experimental reprocessing of the reactor
      • A fuel manufacturing plant
      • A liquid radwaste conditioning building
      • A liquid radwaste storage facility
      • Contaminated soils
      • Buried concrete tanks, slightly contaminated
    • The main functions and tasks include:
      • Preparation of the Radionuclide Inventory
      • Classification of radioactive wastes
      • Design of a temporary waste storage building
      • Safety Analysis Report
      • Waste management plan
      • Engineering and design of auxiliary installations (decontamination for temporary storage of materials and transfer of waste)
      • Decommissioning Plan and execution project for the dismantling of all the installations
      • Conventional and radiological environmental impact study
      • Specification for procurement of equipment and services
      • Evaluation of contractors’ tenders
      • Management of contractors on site
