Solar Thermal Power Plants (CSP)

Pioneers from the concentration tower projects developed in Spain (PS10 and PS20) to the latest designs developed with parabolic trough and solar tower technology, and molten salt energy storage projects.

Key Project: DEWA, the largest hybrid (CSP-PV) solar power project in the world, for ACWA Power in Dubai, with a total installed power of 1 GW:

  • 3×200 MW with parabolic trough collectors and 12-hour molten salts storage.
  • 1×100 MW with molten salts and tower technology and 15-hour molten salts storage.
  • 3×32 MW and 1×16 MW with photovoltaic technology, for auxiliary consumers.
  • 250 MW with photovoltaic technology.

 

Empresarios Agrupados is also currently carrying out the complete design of the REDSTONE project for ACWA Power in South Africa, consisting of a concentrated solar thermal tower molten salts storage, for an installed capacity of 100 MW.

Biomass and Waste

The use of biomass as fuel allows a more efficient use of agricultural and forestry resources. Empresarios Agrupados masters the different combustion technologies and, therefore, designs plants with high efficiency and availability.

  • We design and build biomass plants using various fuel sources (olive residues, vineyard residues, forestry residues, agricultural residues – wheat straw, corn stover, almond shells, rice husks – or energy crops).
  • These projects require the integration of three aspects that are particular to each individual project:
      • Fuel supply, its logistics and handling, as well as a high degree of automation.
      • Combustion technology adapted to the fuel
      • Plant optimization for high efficiency and availability
  • Engineering, turnkey (EPC) and EPCM services

Wind Power Plants - On Shore

Empresarios Agrupados has participated in more than 70 wind projects with an installed capacity of more than 4 GW. In these projects, our large multidisciplinary team of in-house experts has provided our customers with engineering, consultancy and auditing services throughout the entire life cycle of the wind farm, from initial development to construction, commissioning and operation, including all the electrical infrastructure for transmission was well as hybrid solutions and energy storage systems.

In the development phase, we accompany our customers from the conceptual design stage through the whole construction license application phase, carrying out the range of site characterisation studies (topography, geotechnics and hydrology), feasibility studies, grid access and connection studies, wind resource and bankable production studies, construction license application and permitting processes, basic engineering, tender engineering for EPC bids and preliminary electrical studies for grid connection.

Wind Power Plants - Off Shore

Our large multidisciplinary team of in-house experts allows Empresarios Agrupados to offer our customers engineering, consultancy and auditing services throughout the life cycle of offshore wind farms, from the initial development phases to construction, commissioning and operation, including all the electrical infrastructure for transmission (offshore substations), hybrid solutions and energy storage systems.

In the development phase, we accompany our customers from the initial conceptual design stage up until the entire construction license application phase is completed, carrying out all site characterisation studies (bathymetry, geotechnics, geophysics and meteorological studies), feasibility studies, grid access and connection studies, wind resource and bankable production studies, the construction license application and permitting processing, basic engineering, tender engineering (FEED) and the preliminary electrical studies for grid connection.

Photovoltaic Plants

Empresarios Agrupados has participated in recent years in more than 50 photovoltaic projects with a total capacity of more than 4 GW, as well as over 20 hybridisation projects including this technology with installed capacity of more than 1 GW. In these projects, we have provided our customers with a large multidisciplinary team of in-house experts offering engineering, consultancy and auditing services throughout the life cycle of the plants, from the initial development phases to construction and commissioning and operation, including all the electrical infrastructure for electricity transmission and incorporating hybrid solutions and energy storage systems.

In the development phase, we accompany our customers from the initial conceptual design stage until completion of the construction license application phase, carrying out all the site characterisation studies (topography, geotechnics, pull-out tests, hydrology and flooding), feasibility studies, grid access and connection studies, solar resource, production and bankable performance studies, construction licence applications and permitting processes, basic engineering, tender engineering for EPC bids and preliminary electrical studies for connecting the plant to the grid.

Power Transmission Infrastructure (Substations and Lines)

In recent years, Empresarios Agrupados has participated in more than 50 electrical substation projects, with different configurations, and projects for more than 800 km of high voltage lines for all types of electrical generation plants. To complete them successfully, we provide our clients with a large multidisciplinary team of in-house experts who offer engineering, consultancy and auditing services throughout the life cycle of electricity transmission infrastructures, from the initial development phases to construction, commissioning and operation.

In the development phase, we accompany our customers from the conceptual stage through to the completion of the construction license application phase, carrying out, among other tasks, all site characterisation studies (topography, geotechnics, hydrology and flooding), feasibility studies, grid access and connection studies, layout studies, topology studies, construction applications and permitting projects, basic engineering, tender engineering for EPC bids and preliminary electrical studies for connection to the grid.
