Engineering Support to the Operation and Maintenance of Almaraz NPP

Projects - Nuclear

  • Location: Almaraz (Spain)
  • Utility/Customer: CNAT (Central Nuclear Almaraz Trillo)
  • Period: 2001 – ongoing
  • Scope of services:
    • Almaraz 1 & 2 NPP consists of two Westinghouse Pressurised Water Reactors (PWR) of 1035 and 1045 MWe (uprated power) respectively, located in Spain and owned by a group of Spanish Utilities.
    • For the construction of these two units, EAI was the Architect-Engineer and Construction Manager, responsible for the Engineering, Procurement Services, Construction Supervision and Commissioning in April 1981. Ever since the commercial operation date, EAI has been providing support services to plant operation on a continuous basis.
    • In 2001, a joint operator for the three units (including Almaraz and Trillo NPP) was legally established by the utilities as a legal entity named CNAT (Central Nuclear Almaraz-Trillo, in Spanish). This single operator hired EAI to provide engineering services. An integrated team of approximately 250 engineers was created to this end and is working at EAI premises in Madrid and on site, to perform the plant operation engineering support activities.
