FC Barcelona awards the remodeling works of the Spotify Camp Nou to Limak Construction

On January 9th, the Barcelona Football Club selected Limak Construction, which presented a proposal  supported by GHESA and Vopi4, for the remodeling of the new Spotify Camp Nou. The architectural design for the tender was done by Nikken Sekkei, b720 and Idom.

GHESA, Spanish engineering company with 60 years of experience and projects in more than 40 countries, is specialized in complex MEP systems, structural design, energy efficiency and architectural projects, together with an extensive background in construction supervision, project management and technical assistance during the construction phase of large-scale projects. Its Infrastructure business unit stands out for providing advanced engineering services applied to singular buildings.

Regarding the Spotify Camp Nou project, Elena Fort, FC Barcelona’s first Vice-President, emphasized in the press conference offered by the club, that this alliance, between Limak Construction, GHESA and Vopi4, guarantees the construction of a top-quality stadium, as well as the achievement of the defined time and budget objectives. She also emphasized that the selected company is a “world reference construction company that provides sufficient guarantees of solvency in meeting deadlines and contingency control”.

The decision of the Board of Directors was unanimous in the awarding of the contract for the remodeling works of the Spotify Camp Nou. Laura Mas, member of the Compliance team, indicated that the Board of Directors requested the creation of this monitoring and transparency body to oversee and audit all projects related to Espai Barça. She also highlighted the transparency in the five phases of this tender process and emphasized the importance of Goldman Sachs, which participated in the evaluation of the different companies bidding for the works of the Spotify Camp Nou.

The remodeling works will begin in June 2023, after the end of the sporting season, returning the matches to the Spotify Camp Nou for the 125th anniversary of FC Barcelona, on November 29, 2024.
